I am 11 years old, and I cannot take pills. When I was younger, I could easily take pills. One night I was sick I think, and I need to take a pill. My dad stayed in the room because I think I was about 7-8 and it went down wrong. I choked and couldn't breath but my dad saved me. I also have a heart murmer, Pulmanary Stanosis. I have something wrong with my tooth gums, and I need to take a pill three times a day. I can't though. I get scared, tremble and cry. If I don't take the pills I will die. This is very serious. I need to be able to take pills. I need tips on help. My dad said when I'm older I will have to be able to take pills, and I know that. I'm not going to live unless I can get help. My mom and dad say "put it at the back of your throught, and just pretend it's not there." But I can't do it.Please help me...

What I used to do to learn how to swallow pills is to chew up a piece of food and right when you are ready to swallow, put the pill in your mouth towards your throat and swallow fast. Drink something right afterwards to help it all go down.
See if any of your meds are able to be crushed,
chewed or if they come in a liquid form. Aside from that, if they can and have to be swallowed whole, then you are just goung to have to grin and bear it.
Take ur parents' word for it.
