What to do if everytime you talk to a certain person with a mental illness and they take it the wrong way.?

Question:
Like I say what have you been up to, and they take that the wrong because she dont work, so I just meant like hobbies or jogging or anything she has been doing. Everything I talk about she finds fault with.

Answers:
The key words here are "Mental Illness"
Ask her to explain why she answers like that. Also, educate yourself on her particular illness.

If you are really interested in learning how to deal with this (as opposed to a one paragraph of general advice) two possible resources are meetings of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) or the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA). They have support and education groups for close friends and family members of people with mental illness. No one can help you as much as someone who's gone through what you're going through. Both of those organizations have meetings nationwide. Here's some links: http://www.nami.org/ and http://www.dbsalliance.org/site/pageserv...
