Lexapro Issues?
Question:
A month and a half later all I want to do is sleep on the weekends. My body feels numb and I feel extremely lazy. Today is monday and I am sooo tired that I feel like I cant function. Is this common? Im seriously thinking about stopping this medication because I dont feel anything other than relaxed laziness and its affecting me at work :(
I hope this makes sense, I just got to work (late) its 8:50 and Im out of it.

My doctor recently prescribed me Lexapro, I have been suffering from anxiety for quite some time now and was hoping to find a solution. I spoke with my brother, who is almost out of college with a Doctorate in Psychology, and he was pretty alarmed that they would prescribe this drug to me. He said that it has a high dependency level as opposed to ones like Zoloft. He said the best thing about Zoloft is that it is most trusted to treat your illness and eventually get off of it, but Lexapro is newer, but you do have to remember that it has shown different reactions in every individual, but in most cases it's shown that you must take it constantly and it may not even help you, just kind of mask the problem and you eventually become dependent on it. I'm of course not a doctor, but I do have to say I trust his opinion the most since he is family! I'm going to continue to take it for the 2 weeks as my doctor suggested, but if I do continue to feel all the horrible side effects I am going to bring up my interest to switch to Zoloft.
Im sorry you are having this problem! I have used lexapro before. I also developed side effects that did not go away. I talked to my doctor and asked to be put on something different. Every medication affects each person differently. Talk to your doctor! They should be able to perscribe you with something else that will hopefully have less side effects for you. I wish you the best of luck!
See "the road back" website and antidepressant websites on Lexapro, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris... on page 2. Taper off slowly, with medical advice, but start the other treatments now, except for herbal remedies.
I have been on it for a year and some months and I love it! it gives me energy and doesn't make me groggy, so I would say to you. to get off it ...(with your dr of course)it won't work for you if it has not already. all these Dr say it takes 8-10 weeks or whatever to feel it. but I have been on anti depressants for over 10 years and usually I knew within a couple of days what was going to happen! I don't know how old you are but you should get in touch with your Dr and don't let the Dr push you around with....maybe you should wait ,,,blah blah blah. so many different kinds of meds today and you will find the right one for you. I hope that helps! Peace
