Combat PTSD and PTSD caused by other trauma, are they the same?

Question:
Just a question that has come up in my mind having an answer answered by a vietnam vet. Do you think that combat PTSD eg: seeing your buddies guts flying around etc, is the same as PTSD caused by other trauma eg: rape, sexual abuse etc?

Answers:
They ARE the same thing. They are both stressful and hurtful. And some people are more sensitive to events, for eg. a person watching a car accident right in front of them could go through ptsd. I would think that if I were raped or sexually abused, that would be 100% more traumatizing than a car accident. But that person could have been truamatized anyway..Every person is different and anything could cause ptsd.
The disorder is the same and presents with the same symptoms ~ flashblacks, hyperviligance, etc, ~ but for vets they experience war-related themes, whereas for others, they experience abuse-related themes.
yes ..
extremely stressfull situations cause this neeeds psychotherapy to deal with it
Post Traumatic Stress is just that. Stress after a trauma or traumatic experience. They are the same no matter what the cause.
ptsd is post tramatic stress disorder. it is the same, no matter where it comes from. who is to say that a vet is more stressed than a girl raped?
they are the same disorder
but the flashbacks of the trauma are different
for example and abuse victim
see's the action of abuse in flashbacks
while soldiers see flashbacks
of the fighting and the places were
they unfortunatly saw there friends and partners
die
Yeah. It's just the trauma you relive is different depending on what you went through.
They are the same thing.
PTSD is PTSD; there is no recognized separate diagnosis for Combat. Mental Health professionals don't distinguish one from the other.
