What is up with nicotine patches making me have extremely vivid dreams?
Question:
Answers:
Well, it's possible that the patch is giving you more nicotine that you used to intake through tobacco...
More likely, however, is that instead of the amount of nicotine in your system spiking, it's getting a steady stream of the drug, which is important when you know that nicotine is techincally a stimulant. It also increases neurotransmission in the brain. The combination of these things might account for your mind being more active when dreaming...
Normal withdrawal symptom.
pretty typical. try taking it off before going to bed.
YEAH ...my husband decided to try and quit but couldn't handle the intense dreams and sick feeling in his stomach from the patches
CONGRATS ON TRYING TO GIVE UP THE SMOKES!! I would imagine that u r having extreme dreams due to giving up an extreme habit. Take the patch off @ night, if you are not already doing so. It would not hurt u @ all to call Ur Local Pharmacy or Ur Physician. GOOD LUCK! HOPE THIS HELPED!
This is very common with the patch. Nicotine is a stimulant and since you wouldn't be smoking when you're sleeping, you wouldn't know that you would have weird dream from that too! Since the patch has an extended release which is supposed to supply even coverage over 24 hr but, in reality, the amount goes down towards the end of the 24 hr period. So if you're changing the patch at night or even in the afternoon, try AM. Otherwise, you could try the gum which is faster acting and then try not to chew any within a few hours of bedtime.
Good luck with quitting. It really is an incredibly healthy change you're making.
