There are many different signs. First if the child use normally a loaner. There is a difference between being a loaner ad being shy. They child does like to around its peers or he or she is mean to its parents or pets especially. Torturing small animals or children is a definate sign. I guess it would depend the most on the people spending the most time with them. It wouldn't hurt to take them to a therapist and see what's going on with them mentally. But self exclusion is one of the first signs that you will notice.
Cruelty to animals and a loner are definate signs. Does he talk to himself or have problems determining reality from fiction. Does he like to play with fire? Is he beligerent and disrespectful to authority figures? Does he refuse to talk to you openly? Are his grades poor? does he refuse to take careof himself personally? (hygiene etc.)
