I am a 'little' overstressed. Any ideas how I can really relax?

Question:
I feel I have a problem in relax and enjoy things. Even talking to my friends, laughing and joking, I cannot fully enjoy it, always think of feeling tired, think about my work, ...

Answers:
Hi, its probally you have just over done things in the past, like to much work, relationship problems or family problems.there are so many things that can stress you out that you just feel exhausted in the end.
Maybe if you have time and money, go on a short trip somewhere nice, maybe even alone to find yourself again.
A spa holiday would be the best, otherwise what i do as a single working mum, i go for a hot bath, and use all the spa products i can find, make myself (order myself a meal:-)) and just kick back and try to relax.
Maybe talking to a good friend about this and plan something you really enjoy and go and do that.
But if you always feel very tired and your sure its not your lifestyle then id suggest you go and see a doctor to to be on the safe side and see its not something else.
Good luck!
Ps. dont take life to hard, its to short to fuss with stressful things in life, its here to enjoy!
You need to deal with your work issues before they consume your life.

I can suggest all the distractions in the world, but you need to look at the cause.
you should work to live not live to work. if your job is giving you stress find another job, not easy but well worth it. I know this from experience.
Look into the real reasons as to why you are so stressed if it is work, then see whether you are happy in it, or how you can change it if it makes you miserable, not easy i know, and perhaps take up something like yoga as it's very good for relaxation, as they teach you deep breathing exercises that can lead to a feeling of wellbeing. If you don't want to go to a class, you can buy video tapes and other cassettes on relaxation techniques.
hi chill....shake it all up.. now wrap your self ...take a little break, hang out shop your favourite stuffs, head to a spa ( take a relaxation massage), come home and listen to some cool music, then think about your family and try visiting some one soothing like your gf/bf or your dad/mom any one talk for some time, spend time in a garden a park or near a fish pond come home soak in the tub with a relxaing oil then head tention free to the next day. and try to hang into some nice music when ever you got time. or head to a meditation center thats it....then you will rock
Everyone has extremly busy lives these days and we all forget that precious me time.

My best way to relax is meditation, Im not talking hours at a time just 5 or 10 minutes a day, it just helps to clear your mind.

Meditation takes practice so do not get disheartened at first.

Sit on a dining chair, or any chair you are sitting upright on, feet flat on the floor and hands resting on your lap. Close your eyes and just try to clear your mind, if a thought pops into your head ignore it and continue.

Eventually you will learn to clear alot of thoughts and have a few moments inner peace.

Meditation helps you put life into perspective so it is worth the effort.

Avoid alcohol as this only adds to your problems.

Good luck finding your inner peace, I would love to know how you get on in a week or two.

In love and light.
I learned the Deep Breathing Technique at the Body/Mind classes I took a few years ago. This helped me to overcome Panic Attacks, so, it would definitely help you to overcome your stress. Here is a website that describes Deep Breathing in detail:
never take meds from the head docs. better to do some boiler makers. slug down a few, shoot some shuffle board and buy somebody a drink and chat it up. you may make a friend and have fun. the other night i was making a friend and he pulled a knife on me so you never know. but it was fun. i kicked hjis butt real good. i am good at that. i went home happy.
Try finding some relaxation tapes, they can be quite helpful. Lay down and listen to them on a very comfortable couch or bed.
try st john's wort - its a natural herbal remedy that helps with stress and anxiety you can buy it in boots or tescos etc.
meditate. go to holisticonline.com. walk. sing. pray.
Hi Elisa - The difficulty in these situations is having the ability to 'step back' and reflect sensibly on your issues. It can be a bit of a downward spiral, the more stressed you become, the more difficult it is to get a grip on things. See your GP and he/she may be able to prescribe something that will help you 'wind down' a bit and enable you to put things in perspective. There's no shame in popping a few pills to help you through this difficult time. This is YOUR life, so whatever it takes, do it.
You should try meditating. There are any number of websites which to visit. I practice shamatha meditation. This is a Buddhist meditating technique that works wonders. It reminds me of that old haiku poem: 'Sitting quietly doing nothing, spring comes, the grass grows by itself!'
