Answers:
That is something that will depend on how much damage the stroke did and how severe it was. Some people recover completely, and others have problems with one side of their bodies, slurred speech, walking , holding things. Usually put on some sort of blood thinner, like cumadin or baby aspirin. Your best source will be your dad doctor. Each case is different.
My dad also a stroke patient. He suffer from stroke 9 years ago. Of course, in the beginning, when he get stroke, all our family's income became a problems. He get in 3 opertaion and in ICU for nearly 1 month. So, you can imagine how many money we have to pay to the hospital. However, after he admit from hospital, we meet a physiological doctor. She teach my dad how to use up his hand and legs. After the theraphy, my dad can walk and do simple's daily works. Now, although my dad cant work, but at least, he can look after himself. He can bath himself, eat himself, and he still can help us up to sweep the floor and wash some simple dishes.

But please remember, take good care of your dad, as in the beginning of a person getting storke, he will surely have a very bad mood. The person will become very stubborn and sometimes they even felt themselve useless or be a burden to the family. Talk with your dad frequently and let him know you all care for him and love him.

Hope this can help you up.
