So the penis is not a muscle. Then how does Viagra know in which appendage to increase blood flow?

Question:
In response to the person who said Viagra causes increased blood flow to the penis and causes it to harden; Isn't it possible for Viagra to increase the blood flow in your arms and legs and cause them to harden at the same time?

Answers:
The active ingredient of Viagra was originally intended to ease the pain of angina by dilating blood vessels in the heart. The drug seemed successful until it was tested on humans. The angina patients complained that the drugs didn't work, but refused to return them, and wanted more. When the boffins at Pfizer asked why, they realised that they had a winner on their hands.

Other Answers:
The penis is much more vascular than other "appendages", it was "designed" to fill with blood when the brain sends certain impulses, causing the arteries to engorge with blood and press against the veins preventing the blood from leaving. Your arms and legs simply aren't capable of that because they are less vascular.
