I am having knee pain. Please give some ideas for treatment?

You don't say when the pain started. If it is in the last 48 hours, begin with ice. Keep ice in a bag, wrapped in a thin towel (like dish towel) and put it on the sore spot. After 48 hours or so, heat is more likely to help. Try a heating pad or even a hot soaking bath (or alternate). If the pain continues, you need to use an anti-inflammatory drug: Aleve works best for me, but some people like ibuprophen or aspirin. Tylenol is generally not as good for this purpose.

Once you are feeling okay, you need to address the underlying problem, and so you need to see your doctor. Is it arthritis? Even if you are young, that is a possibility. Did you bang yourself up? Twist it? In those cases, exercise will make your knee stronger. One of the simplest and best exercises is to buy some leg/wrist weights at a sporting good store. They are weighted velcro wraps and they come in about 1 pound to 5 pound sizes (there are also adjustable versions). Put one of these on your ankle, sit in a chair and slowly lift your leg until it is straight out, parallel with the floor. Repeat that until you can work up to 25 lifts per day on each leg, and you will have much less problems with your knees.

Depends on what the problem is. Does it feel like it's bruised? Does it look like it's not entirely in place properly? Have you banged or twisted your knee recently?

If it's bruised, well, ice packs etc should work. If you've banged it pretty hard or twisted it sharply, you might need to see a doctor.


Take MSM or Glucosamine. I take MSM, because GLucosamine condrate costs 39 dollars. ( WHAT. crap!!)MSM was about 8 dollars. anyways, having knee pain is normal. however, if you were recently injured and have knee pain go to your doc? if you were recently injured , have knee pain, and already went to doc and he was clueless and did not offer help, then go to another doc or treat yourself and accept your destiny. That's what i did. now i have a weird pain after an injury that gave me some kind of arthritis. So what i do is knee exercises, i limit my activities, and i just accept even though I HATE IT!!
