I know my partner has some kind of sleep disorder but not sure what type it is.?
He sometimes does not breathe while sleeping and I can hear him gasp for breathe. But even worse than this problem is that he will fall asleep sitting on the sofa, you cannot wake him up and sometimes he will start kicking his leg. He has recently kicked our glass table top coffee table breaking a plate that was sitting on the table and scratching the glass. It took forever to get him awake even after this happened.
Answers:
Have him get a sleep study done! He may have obstructive sleep apnea, which means that he temporarily stops breathing during his sleep. This prevents him from getting a good night's rest so he may be tired and prone to fall asleep during the day.
As for kicking his legs, he might also have restless leg syndrome, where the legs move involuntarily during sleep. (Ask him if he has any creepy crawly sensations in his leg during the day when his legs are still.)

He probaly has sleep apnea, you cannont get air to your lungs, so when you do breathe you breathe very deeply, and about the breaking things, that might be nerves or reflexes to something.
