Oversleeping - why?


Question:
Is there any kind of illness or condition where one of the symtoms is excessive sleep?
If allowed to, I would sleep on average, probably 10hrs a night, but last night I exceeded that.
I fell asleep approx 1.30am then woke at 8.30am, got myself a glass of water and went back to bed until 4.45pm . that's 15 hrs sleep. Can't be normal, can it?

Get a job and you will have no choice but to stop sleeping and go to work.

It depends what you were doing the previous day, and the previous week. Your body will always need to catch up on sleep, so say your body needs 10hrs, but you've only been having 9hrs for the last 5 days.that's the 5hrs you were owed, plus the 10hrs you usually have.

I bet you'll have trouble getting back to sleep tonight though.
Could be a sign of depression, could be sleep disorder, could be you just worked 12 days straight with 12 hour days. Could be thyroid issues, might consider making an appointment with your physician. Do you sleep like this often? Tell you MD when you go if that's the case.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Also have hormones checked. If you are working nights, that can actually mess with your body's balance.
Sometimes if your feeling a bit down generally you sleep more, the weather is quite depressing which can be a factor and you can just feel like hibernating. You may be low in iron and b vitamins which can make you feel more tired and low, try a suppliment which contains vit c aswell as this helps the absorbtion of iron.xx
the younger you are the more you can sleep - I am guessing your a teenager, if you are dint worry your body needs loads of sleep as you get older you will find you sleep a lot less - if you re older visit your doctor .

no, your body may be making up for excess stress, mental or physical.
Maybe you start by seeing a psychologist
simple,you are lazy!.
No its not normal,But the 10 hours is not a problem unless it causes a problem to you as for the 15 hrs WOW you dont want to get in the routine of that matey,cause one day you will not wake up.
