How long does it take the male voice to develop/change?

Question:
I know that the voice changes through out life, but I'm just curious as to how long on average it takes. My voice jumps real low and and then the next week or so it's back where it started. Then it'll deepen again, maybe a little deeper than before for a week and then get higher. My voice wears out really easily and the it slides back up to where it was. Being a singer this is hard, I already have a fairly deep voice for my age, but my voice never broke and it never really cracks. Latley it's been getting crazy, fluctuating a whole lot. How long will this go on?

Answers:
I'm 17 and a half and my voice still cracks (though much less often). Sometimes I notice it's related to my allergies and crap getting in my throat so just try making sure your nose doesn't run. Also, I have noticed that chewing gum causes it to crack a lot more for some reason ... but maybe that's just me.
I know its hard not being in control of your voice,, but from what I know voice changes can happen in weeks or a few months, dont worry, if your voice is changing it means that your getting all your hormones to be a young man, and thats a good thing, if you didnt have any changes in your voice then you could be 23 and have a really high voice...... yuck,,, hang in there, this to will pass.......
