My voice has been on and off.?

Question: I lost my voice and it doesn't seem to get better, its been 5 days. My boss said I should see a doctor because it could turn into to something worste. He said that it might even be contagious. I don't have any insurance at this time and that is why I have been hesitating to see a doctor. Does anybody know what might be wrong with me? I was hoping it would get better by itself but now I am starting to worry. I believe my boss might have a weak immune system and that is why he wants me to take care of this asap. Plus he does not want me to get the rest of the office sick. The thing is that I don't even feel sick it is only my trouth that is giving me problems. Help!!!
