Is there any way to provoke baldness?

Question:
I have a very annoying cowlick and generally like my hair cut as short as possible. There is no history of baldness in my family but I was wondering if there is a way to provoke baldness seeing as how I don't like having to get a haircut every couple weeks because I have a cowlick and I don't want to shave my head every other day.

I know this is a ridiculously moronic question but I'm just curious.

Answers:
There are ways, but you won't like them. Alopecia is the absence of hair. One form is an autoimmune form where the immune system attacks the hair follicles on the whole body. Those who have this kind of alopecia wish that they had hair because it is cold without hair or eyelashes etc.
It is better to think of borrowing someone's hair straightener for the time being. People that I know who had cowlicks on the front found that they went away after some time (ie after high school)

Ok, I'm a hairstylist. Premature Male Pattern Baldness doesn't have to necessarily "run" in the family for someone to have it. In most cases, yes it does but it doesn't have to. There is no way to prevent it from happening, everyone is different. You can keep cutting your hair or just let it grow long, yes the cowlick will be aggravating for a couple of weeks . Once your hair gets a certain length, it will weigh the cowlick down so it won't aggravate you. Good Luck!

You cannot really promote hair loss. You would probably do better trying a gel or creme to remove your hair, like nair. I am bald and shave the sides dailly and it is a chore, but it is not too hard if you maintain it every day. you can even use an electric shaver for convenience. YES PULL YOUR HAIR OUT
