Does testosterone promote good mood, self-confidence and sociability?

Question:
I recently had my blood work done and my testosterone count was 649 ng/dl... which my doctor said was normal... but I still think it's too low!

I'm 29 years old and suffer from depressed mood, no self-confidence, I'm afraid to make friends, date or be friendly to others, I'm irritable all the time, I've lost my sex drive, I have an intense fear of everything.

Anti-depressants do absolutely nothing for me. I am stuck on Klonopins to keep my anxiety in check but it's only making matters worse. Not to mention I've lost my strength and cannot focus or concentrate. I forget easily and have a bad case of insomnia. I've had these symptoms since I was 17... I was extremely shy and unable to make many friends in school.

My guess is that testosterone therapy for at least two months would help me a great deal, but I am not sure.

Answers:
Testosterone doesn't do that for me, but then, I am a woman. It just makes my hair grow.

I would suggest you have your doctor check you out for hyperinsulinemia and hypoglycemia. All your symptoms sound like that, including the strength loss, insomnia, and inability to concentrate. Sounds like me prior to getting diagnosed with hypoglycemia.

Check out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org. You may surprise yourself at the number of symptoms you have that may be due to that condition, and it may save you some money in testosterone therapy, cause hypoglycemia is best treated with modifications in your eating habits.
