My mate has told me he wants to make a living out of swallowing tools, is his health at risk?

My mate was watching the discovery channel when a programme came on about a Frenchman called Michel Lotito, he has made a fortune out of eating various matal objects including microwaves, televisions and even shopping trolleys(Message to Tom the Tramp, hide yours a.s.a.p!)anyway my mate has decided to give it a go and so far he has eaten 3 spanners, a socket set, and a sledge hammer(His favourite so far!) To be honest I am more than a little concerned for his health and I am trying to discourage him, what do you think, should my mate become a professional or remain an hammer chewer?

Ive seen some of those on Ripley's, they keep doing it, but I do not think its healthy at all, even if he swallows it, it can cause damage to the esophagus, stomach, intestines etc. He should try a different profession in my opinion.

I think he should start small and work his way up, i mean lets face it - hows he gonna swallow a bloody rake? or a chainsaw with the engine running. I once saw a neighbour of mine eat a whole garden shed - he had to go to hospital to have a splinter removed from his throat, and terrible heartburn i believe the following morning due to the shed having just been creosoted.

haha sounds like a good idea. He made any money yet? if he has well done, probably isn't much more dangerous than smoking and he's getting money for it! And I don't think eating metal causes cancer. Win, Win situation.
