I need some advice on how to get my husband who is 68 to have a medical checkup. He refuses!?

My husband is 68, never been in a hospital,had any prescriptions filled, hasn't had a cold in I don't know when, but smokes 2 pks. cigs a day, snores horribly in his sleep, and coughs so much I want to give him robitussin.

First of all, Robotussin will NOT help a smokers' cough.

If he snores THAT badly, are you sure it's NOT sleep apnea ? Is he also overweight ? Does he "sort of" jerk half-awake then goes back to sleep ? Wake up with a morning headache ? Daytime sleepy ? All signs of sleep apnea. ( I have it severely and never smoked. )

My father was a 4 pack a day smoker, healthy as a horse otherwise..BUT..when he lost 20 pounds a month, two months in a row,.decided to see a dr.it was too late. FIVE WEEKS later he was dead from lung cancer. At 57 years old.

Youe husband is scared, lazy, stubborn, ALREADY KNOWS, or all of the above !

I hope YOU have had insurance on him for at least 2 years . Because you are going to end up ALONE.

Take his cigs till he goes

Tell him you'll never have sex again, until he goes for the check up.this usually works. If you don't have handcuffs or a straight jacket it sounds like you can't do too much.It's his decision..all you can do is be there for him.
