If you can’t get insurance through work, your best option is to talk with local Georgia-licensed health insurance agents. They’ve probably helped people in your situation before. Medicaid is out because you make too much money and you’re too young and not sick enough for Medicare. If you can afford $70/month for health insurance, there are health plans available to you. However, you will still have to pay a high deductible with a plan that has a low monthly payment. Your insurer or the hospital will work out a payment schedule with you where you can pay off your medical bill over time. It might be worth it since your problem is affecting your ability to make a living.

Check out MostChoice.com. It’s a free, no obligation Web site that specializes in connecting state-licensed agents with people interested in health insurance. It’s a Atlanta-based company that has connections to agents throughout the state, including Coweta County. Just fill out a short form, review free online quotes on Georgia insurers, and within 48 hours agents should contact you. Tell them about your situation and what you can afford, and they will do the rest. All you have to do is wait until one of them delivers a solution that makes sense.

Whatever you do, though, please get help for your problem. You’re too young to be hobbled like you are; you might have to choose between having some medical bills that take a while to pay but have a good foot, or have less debt but have trouble walking.

If Medicaid denied you, then.unfortunately, there is no other option for insurance. Also, with a pre-existing condition, any insurance provider who does accept you will very likely refuse to cover treatment for this condition for at least 12 months, possibly 18m- 2 years.

The only other thing you may be able to do if you can not afford the procedure you need is to go to your hospital of choice, and ask to speak with one of their financial counselors. Many hospitals have programs that offer either a sliding fee scale (fee based on what you can afford), or they have charitable cases where they will waive a large percent of your bill.

It is sad that in America, if you're struggling and alone, you're just that - ALONE, but if you have a couple of kids, you can get a check from more than one government agency, along with insurance at least for the kids. It's an incentive for the worst kind of family planning, in my opinion.

Good luck.
