A fifteen year old shoud not perform resistance exercises to gain muscle mass, this can result in a stunt of growth. I always recommend early teens to participate in body weight exercises like push ups, or squats using a stability ball against the wall. Endurance exercises are optimal, these are exercises or weight that one can do at least 20 repetitions. This will add muscle endurace and produce the "ripped effect" and steer clear of the muscle mass effect. Hope this helps (MSOTR/L, ACSM-HFI)
