yes, too much sleep is bad. 8-10 hours is okay. as for the rest of your day off, do other stuff like sex, read, watch movies, sex, drink, chat with friends, exercise, sex, eat, run, . you get the idea.

If I get too much sleep I wake up with a splitting headache that takes forever to go away and I feel rundown all day long.
It's not bad. you're just trying to recover from not getting sufficient sleep when you're working. The only downside of it you're becoming unproductive on your days off.
