I have a question about Pepto bismol?

Question:
Is it normal for that stuff to make stool really dark? My hubby woke me up this morning, scared because his "stuff" looked black. I told him, pepto, does that! He took 3 shots of it yesterday for upset stomache. Has this happened to anyone esle, is it normal?

Answers:
yeah it's normal. I've also seen it leave a black coating on your tounge if you don't brush it good the night before. But do rule out a GI bleed.. if his poo is really foul smelling too go to the doc!

Other Answers:
YES.. its pink!

yeah, and its gross Yes that is a normal side effect, I think it even mentions that on the label.

totally normal

Yes its normal.

Depends. What's wrong with his stomach that he needed the Pepto? If he has a bleeding ulcer for instance, that will turn his poo black. I would ask the Dr. Black stools usually indicate bleeding somewhere along the GI tract. completely normal

This happened to my husband several years ago and he had a bleeding ulcer. Black stool is serious and your husband should see a doctor.

Yes it is normal. Read the label and it will tell you that.

YES AND PEPTO WILL TURN YOUR STOOL BLACK I don't know about the stool, but it always makes me puke!

this has happened to my brother yeah its very normal and yet very gross. dont worry though its just for a little while

yep normal..

Yes it dose. Never happened to me, but I usually try to steer clear of the stuff. It nearly makes me gag just thinking about it.
For a more informed answer than what you may get on here, I would suggest calling your doctors office and ask the nurse there, or I would assume that Pepto Bismol has an 800 number or website that you can reach to inquire from.
I would think that your hubby is just fine though. When your digestive system is a little messed up or off schedule, your body just does the best it can. Don't worry. all things will pass. lol

The bottle says dont take it if your stool is black or very dark.
