They are a professional and I would think that if you are going to this Dr. you have some measure of trust..I have had it done several times..alittle embarassing? ya! but so what. as long as it was just a physical examination like quick feel to see if there was a growth, enlargment, undecended one something like that..but to hang on for 3 or 4 minutes or massage them NO..it takes only a couple seconds to determine any problems. A thorough physical exam by a doctor is always a good thing. All guys should have them regularly and not only do you need to allow th edoctor to examine everything, if you doctor isn;t being totally thorough, then insist they examine everything. Yes it is embarassing to stand there while a doctor looks you all over and handles your 'private' and not private areas but if they catch somethign early enough, you might get away with a much easier treatment than if you don;t have th ephysical and a problem does nto get detected until only surgery or nothing can be done.
Secondly, many doctors do not really care whether they are examining guys or gals. And in a sense, people should not really care the gender fo the doctor. However, since you are goign to see the doctor (or should I say the doctor will see you), then it is always better fi you are as comfortable as possible with the doctor. so if you are a bit freaked about yoru doctor being one gender or the other, or if your doctor does not see the need for total regular physicals, then by all means seek out a new doctor.
