Why is it that when you do the right thing other people take total advantage?

Question:
It just seems that when I do the right thing to assist or help someone I end up getting hurt. My nature is to do the right thing - perhaps that is the problem. Maybe by being mean and nasty I would not get hurt.

Answers:
That's just life I guess. Ultimately you don't really have control over how you act. If your nature is to do the right thing, then possibly for quite some more time, that is how you will act, since it is your nature. That said, if something really bad did happen, it might change the way you act forever, and then you might end up being a total female dog.

Life is quite nasty, and I understand you, because no matter how hard I try and be nice to people, in the end it really doesn't matter, because they still backstab and they still do things to disappoint you. But I guess how i see it is that I don't want to stop being nice to people, simply because I believe that there are good people out there, no matter how small the population maybe. But I choose who I am nice to, I won't be nasty and mean, but I just don't put as much heart into people who I think will hurt me in the end.

This whole thing is just a process from being a naive person to someone who is smart and someone who can survive in this world and I guess most of us go through this journey. The choice is yours~ Wish you the best of luck~

I have the same problem. I help others once, or do an extra task at work, and all of a sudden I'm expected to do these things, and more, daily. If I don't, I'm somehow not a good friend, or I'm shirking my duties at work.

Most people I see these days think that it's "all about them", meaning that everything revolves around them and their wants and needs. They expect others to do for them, and if others (like us) won't do those things for them, we are somehow the selfish ones.

I don't know the solution, but acting mean will only get you labeled as beligerent or aggressive.

However, do learn to say "no". Eventually, some of the self-centered idiots will get it that you are not going to help them all the time.
i m also of ur nature and sometimes i also face the same problem but being mean and nasty does not pay in the long run ...i believe that one should just do the right thing and he will get the fruit of his work one day or the other
