alopecia - Hair Loss?

Question:
Does anyone know why you can suffer alopecia - what causes it? what are the symtoms apart from the obvious.

Can it be brought on by stress.

Answers:
There are many reasons for hair loss. Hair loss could be due to stress, medication, hormonal imbalance etc. DHT and male pattern baldness are closely related to each other. The dihydrotestosterone has a very bad effect on the hair follicles, which slows down the growth of hair or stops hair growth completely.

The main cause of hair loss is stress. Stress and mental tension leads to hair loss..

Other Answers:
Hair loss can be triggered by a lot of things one of them is stress. Any kind of trauma to the body can cause it from childbirth to surgeory.

As the previous person said it can be brought on by stress as well as a lot of other things. My son in law suffers from small patches but once he gets rid of the stress his hair grows back in. This is without any medication. Hairloss in men is called androgenetic alopecia, and as the name suggests is linked to genes.

And yes stress can cause hair loss.

I suffer hair loss, well I did!

I stopped washing my hair over a year ok and it has already become thicker AND doesn't smell at all. Just wash in fresh water NO soap!

I believe hair products damage and weaken your hair.

Still got a bald patch on top though but no more hair loss.

Washing your hair speeds everything up.
