My husbands eyes (age 64) have turned from dark brown to light blue.?

Question: Can't seem to get answers as to why this would happen, optomertrist says "never heard of it" Family doctor says " interesting". He quit smoking and drinking also (maybe he's been cloned) Somebody must know why this would happen and if it's a symptom of anything health related.
