Question:
I am in my early 60s and had a triple bypass 18months ago i tire very easly and breathing problems.Ihad a echo scan in may and was told every thing was ok,my own gp is treating me for anxiety.I go to the gym with the gp referral class twice a week and find that when i am on the tread mill (speed setting 4) my pulse is around80 to 85 bpm and i feel fine until i get home and then i feel really tired. Its the same when i try to do small jobs around the house i have to sit down after a few minutes and get my breath back,it is worse if i bend down i feel dizzy when i get up.After my operaition i was in and out of hospital 5 times with problems,i was told by the cardiologist that at some stage i mat need a pace maker.Even now as i sit at my pc i feel a tightness from my diaphram up the sternum and i feel tired.I checked my pulse this morning and i found erregularities it was missing one beat in three..A year ago i had a 48 hour moniter on and it showed irregularities in my heart rate.

Answers:
Im sorry to hear of your problems.

A while ago my dad suffered from 3 heart attacks and had angio plasty.

He was told by his consultant to listen to his body and rest when he needed to do so. He used to get breathless after his operation and even coming downstairs would require him to rest.

When you say you have anxiety, it makes me wonder whether this could be affecting your heart rate? I suffer with anxiety attacks which give me palpitations and my heart misses a beat.

I dont know whether it may help as I am not a doctor but, meditation may help to calm you a little as I'm sure youre feeling frightened about your prognosis? This would help with your anxiety too.

If it persists go back to your GP and ask for a referal back to the cardiologist and make him aware of your anxiety as its seems that they havent taken this into consideration.

I wish you all the luck in the world.

You should really be talking to your GP or heart surgeon about this not an internet forum. As you have a history of heart problems it is not worth the risk of waiting for something to happen. Be pro-active and get yourself checked out.
