Should you take metamucil while ill with diarrhea?

At present I have a chronic problem with diarrhea, close to a year, I can"t tell you all the meds. I"ve taken........to no avail, it always returns, no temp and no pain. At the same time I have fissures, no hemorrhoids. Had a little surgery to spincter muscle with immediate relief for a number of weeks. I ask in a most respectful way...whats the cure. Will metamucil help me. Be a hero .... save me. Thanks. Problem is back. Pain, pain.

have you tried milk/cheese and other dairy products? those are supposed to stop you up

i think you need a lower gi series and a scoping of the colon, you may have bowel or colon cancer my mother had that problem for 15 years and finally it killed her, dont let it go that long. metamucil is all her doctor suggested, and it never helped a thing.

If you have not been to the doctor, you need to go and get an examination.
I worked with a gastroenterologist who prescribed metamucil for diarrhea because it is a bulk producer. It works.
There is a medication which comes in a powder one of the physicians orders for his pts and I cannot remember the name of it. When I can figure out what it is I will e mail you.
As with all things, you must be consistent. You cannot skip doses no matter what you are taking. You sometimes must take a drug for days before you notice a difference.

I think the name of the drug is questran. It comes in a powder and you have to dilute it with water or some other type liquid.
