any advice for a trapped nerve in my neck?

Question:

Answers:
The best treatment depends on a whole variety of questions - age, general health, medical history, how did it happen, symptoms etc, etc.
Trapped nerves in the neck often cause pain or 'pins and needles' in the hand and fingers. Which fingers are affected will give a clue to which nerve is trapped. Sometimes the cause is not a nerve being trapped but muscle spasm putting pressure on the nerve. Manipulation in this case might well make things a lot worse.

As for treatment, NOTHING should be attempted without a thorough examination by a registered professional. An Osteopath will conduct a detailed case history and do a thorough examination before deciding on the best course of treatment. Providing the patient is happy with what is suggested then treatment can then take place. Typically this would involve gentle massage and stretching followed (possibly) by manipulation. Manipulation may not be advisable or necessary and should be carried out with minimum force and only after massaging and stretching the area properly to 'warm up' the tissues. This way less force is needed, often a simple 'nudge' will do the trick. An few simple exercises afterwards will also probably help.

In short there is no simple answer *** many factors must be considered so please consult a properly registered professional. To find an osteopath in your area go to www.osteopathy.org.uk

Deep tissue massage done by a proffesional. A few light stretches also. I get this all the time.
go and see a register chiroprator, that will sort you out.

I had the same problem, and chiropractic manipulation will realign your spine and untrap the nerve (possibly)

Good luck
I would not allow anyone to touch my neck until I have been to a neurosurgeon, he may do a MRI to be sure there is no other problems causing this trapped nerve.

Trust me, do not mess with your neck, I am paying for it for ever.
i have same problem ana i'm off work with it just now. DON'T let anyone do anything to your neck until its been seen by a consultant and diagnosis confirmed. You can end up in a wheel chair if you mess about with your neck! GOOD LUCK.
