How to stop your partner from snoring may not be the best question in this case. You may want to consult doctor if he is suffering the Sleep Apnea.
There is a reason why your partner is snoring. Also, if he is suffering Sleep Apnea, he is likely to have some other health issues such as high blood pressure and other cardiovascular disease, memory problems, weight gain, impotency, and headaches.
Once he is diagnosed, there are means, such as CPAP machine (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), to help him.
Please check below link for further information on Sleep Apena. (I'd rather like to have you read more formal explanation than mine so that you can make your own judgement)

This CPAP machine or sometimes BiPAP (Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) machine is a very small mechanical ventilator designed to help the patient with Sleep Apena.
Unfortunately, public is not aware this serious Sleep Apnea as you find answers from others..even among health care provider

A simple solution would be to sleep on your stomach. Most people who snore sleep on their backs. By doing so, you leave your neck in a position to have your mouth open. If you still snore while on your stomach, you can try a snore braclet sold on the internet. While sleeping, if you snore, the braclet sends a shock to your body without interupting your sleep. Over time, your body will learn not to snore (for fear of being shocked). It's like conditioning--when you teach a dog or infant not to do something by punishing it everytime it does something wrong.
Gently turn his head to the side.
Wake him up or shift to another room

According to ayurveda, keeping your partner's kapha dosha in balance can help freeing him from the inconveniences of snoring.
Main lifestyle advice: Minimize smoking; even second hand smoking has been been found to promote snoring. Sleep on the side. Go to bed early and get up early. Exercise several times a week and keep your weight normal. Panchakarma (special, ayurvedic massage) has been found quite effective as part of a toxin-reducing and weight-balancing program.
Main dietary advise: In the evening, eat lightly, 2 to 3 hours before bed. Follow a kapha dosha pacifying diet. Especially, reduce dairy and oily foods (cheese, cream, oils, etc). Add cumin, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and cinnamon to dishes, they all can help reduce kapha. Sip hot water throughout your day.
Herbal support: You'll find several good, ayurvedic products out there. For instance, in the UK, there are ayurvedic "Nasal Drops", "Breathe Easy" tablets, and "Breathe Easy" aroma inhalation you can diffuse during the night.
If the respiratory tract is affected by allergens, the tissues may be inflamed and snoring is more likely. "Allergard" tablets may help as part of an allergy-resistance programme supporting digestion and staying free from ama (toxins, chemical deposits, etc).
Snoring may be caused by increase in the looseness of the soft tissues of mouth and throat, associated with congestion, allergies, high blood pressure, and possibly polyps.
