What to expect for a physical?

Question:
I'm a 17 year old guy and I have to go get a physical for my Spring sports and I don't know what to expect really. Can they drug test you? Do they test you for STDs and will they if I want them to? Do they have to feel me as I cough? Etc.

Answers:
Just a routine physical to play sports is really painless. The doctor will first have your vital signs taken to ensure everything is normal (temperature, blood pressure, etc.). After that the doctor will perform a few quick tests on your leges, knees and maybe arms to make sure you don't have any pain or limb problems. He may ask you questions regarding your health. Lastly, he will ask you to drop your pants to your ankles. He will give you a testicular exam. He'll feel for any lumps or deformities and then ask you to cough to check for a hernia. It's really no big deal. They will only check you for STDs if you request them to. There is no drug test.
