Medical point of view if the "hymen" membrane is not broken it is called the girl is virgin,in other words if this membrane is broken then the girl has lost her virginity....this may be possible to know by various medical test.

But in society I think the meaning of "VIRGIN" means the girl has not involved her self in any act of intercourse with opposite sex,which is in other words is "penetration of ones vagina by others penis".

This latter symptom is possible to know with the girls confession only.
