Do electric razors shave as close as regular ones?

Question:
I've been using the Gillette Fusion Power hand-held razor but it really irritates my skin w/o changing the blade every week-ish. so I just bought a Phillips Norelco 7000 for $100 and I haven't used it yet, but will it shaze as close as a regular razor does? the box says it will

here's a picture of it:

Answers:
There's no way any electric can possibly shave as close as a blade. The fusion is a very different razor from Gillette's previous model and if you have used the Mach 3 in the past you kind of just have to break it in and retrain your face a little before you get used to it. Also you may want to try a higher end shave gel or cream. Save the most sensitive parts of your face for last so that the gel has more time to soften the beard and your skin. Finally never shave against the grain of your hair. It will give you the closest shave but is most likely to irritate your skin and promote in-grown hairs. It's better to shave once with the grain and then once across it. You can throw in one more stroke with the grain for an extra close shave.

Finally you can finish up with a good aftershave lotion or cream but stay away from the cologne type stuff that contains a lot of alcohol. The stinging does nothing for you.

NO,I prefer regular ones for best shave!!

No matter what the razor companies say there is no way that an electrical shaver will come anywhere near as close as an straight edge. Go with a non-electric razor for the best shave.
