A question about reading glasses!?

Question:
I started using computers,3 years ago,and couldn't see the writing on the computer,so i been using reading glasses when i use them.I'm on the computer 6 hours a day,7 days a week, for the last 3 years. Now when i'm off the computer,i try to read without the glasses and the words in books and letters are blured. Is using the glasses too much hurting my eyes?I never used glasses before the computers, and my vision was great? I am 63 years old.

Answers:
It is due to the natural aging of our lens - what helps people see up close. It is important that you regularly (yearly) see your eye doctor to examine the health of your eyes - many conditions can be treated if caught early but by the time symptoms arise it is too late. Your optometrist could also Rx you glasses that you can use to see the computer and books clearly. If you are not interested in purchasing glasses from your eye doctor, OTC readers will work just fine.

That's normal - it happens with age. It may not have been the reading glasses with the computer - just the timing.
I would like to know what type of computer moniter you are using. Is it CRT (the big TV type ones) or is it a thin monitor (LCD)?
At 63 you have a disease called presbyopia due to hardeing of the lenses. Go and see an ophthalmologist for glasses.
you need to go to the eye dr and get an exam and get the correct pair of glasses with the strength where you can see while reading you may need a bi-focal good luck
Sounds like vision problems as you get older, is all. Get checked for cataracts and you could just need glasses from a lifetime of strain on your eyes.

Reading glass prescriptions are only so strong; you could have an astigmatism. I would check with your doctor.

Good luck!
