should i stretch before weight training?

I met with a trainer to set up a routine to lift weights and work on weight machines in the gym, in order to lose weight and build muscles. He said NOT to stretch before or after exercising. Is he right?

ALWAYS, ALWAYS STRETCH before any exercise. This helps your muscles, tendons, and ligaments to prepare themselves for weight lifting, jogging, etc.
