How long do I have to wait to have sex after a vasectomy?

Question:
I have a vasectomy scheduled soon, but have met a girl and we are talking about spending the night together. I still want the procedure but want also to sleep with my girlfriend. How long do I have to wait AFTER the vasectomy to have sex?

Answers:
How long before you have sex is one thing. How long before you have UNPROTECTED sex is another. You need to have a minimum of 2-3 ZERO sperm counts before you have unprotected sex. Sperm is stored below where the cut of the vasectomy, so there are plenty of them to get your new girlfriend pregnant for several ejaculations.
So, be VERY careful!!

Shouldn't you be asking your doctor this question?
UNtil you heal and the pain stops. I don't actually know, but I'm sure it'll be at least 3 weeks. Your doctor will be able to tell you.
Are you going to the dentist too ?
i believe its a few weeks like 3-6 weeks believe me you dont want to get an erection when you have just had this procedure women say there is no pain like childbirth well..........
Didn't the doctor tell you? I know someone who had one and he only waited 1 week, but ask your doctor first.
Wait until you're comfortable with the act of sex.

However, if you're really asking, "How long before I can have sex and not get this girl pregnant?"...you need to allow for at least 20 ejaculations before all sperm can be assumed to be cleaned out of your system.

Bottom line: use protection for a while.
You can have sex immediately after a vasectomy. However, you risk the dehiscence of your scrotal wound. I minor complication for the joys of hot sex
a few weeks...use condoms until they check and make sure that the sperm count is way down in the ejaculate before you try unprotected sex again
try .....MedicineNet.com
being a girl I really cannot comment personally but a friend of mine had one last year just at the same point as you are in. He had met a new girlfriend after the separation with his wife. I hope this site helps. Good luck with the new romance xxxx
I had to wait one week and two days.
you can have sex the same day, but your nut sack will be swollen and sore, and you will NOT be infertile. Wear a condom !
How long? You wait until you MARRY the young woman, so if that is a year, you wait a year.

But then if you honored that principle, you most probably wouldn'ty need a vasectomy.
2 weeks...If you get the desire, the biggest down fall for vasectomies is the lack of desire.

Good luck!
I had mine done on Friday, had sex on Sunday.... no big deal... nothing different... just use protection... and make sure you go back to the doctor and get tested....
Your urologist doctor will be the best person to answer this question.

Basically your doctor will be collecting samples from you on certain intervals to make sure you are sterile after the procedure.
