Unexplained joint pain and swelling?

Question:
My fiance experiences swelling and dibilitaing pain in his hands, wrists, elbows, and now his hip and knee. It doesn't happen all at once, but he knows when it's about to flare up, he can feel it coming on. He's been to the Dr.s 4 or 5 times and they told him that there is nothing wrong with him and he probably injured himself somehow and doesn't remember doing it. I can tell you myself, that isn't the case at all. He tells me when it's about to happen and you can actually see his hand swelling. His fingers hand and wrist look like a water filled rubber glove that's been over filled. He's been checked for arthritis, and everything else. But the Dr.s keep telling him that's there is nothting wrong with him and it's all in his head. I don't know what else to do. I hate to see him in pain, pain killers don't work and it takes about a week or so for it to subside. So he has to deal with the pain and sleepless nights til it goes away. Does anyone have any ideas? Serious answers only. TY

Answers:
He may want to check out www.hufa.org to check the symptoms page to see if it sounds like a symptom of hypoglycemia. Hyperinsulinemia might also be a cause - www.mayoclinic.com - search for hyperinsulinemia. Doubt that it is an effect of a systemic yeast syndrome but he can get basic info on that on www.hufa.org too.

It may be a symptom of fibromyalgia - google Dr. St. Amend (Santa Monica, CA) - I think the site is www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com

Other Answers:
It sounds to like gout me. See if he has had uric acid levels taken. If not, get the doctor to take them. They have a lot of drugs for gout that will help him.
