"freezing my balls off" - this saying true or not?

There isn't really an uncomfortable feeling, unless you just jumped into a freezing pool of water, then it hurts like hell! But if its just in the cold or snow then its just an expression, granted there will be some major shrinkage in the snow as well but it is a slow shrink, the cold water is instant pain/uncomfortableness(if that's a word).
True for me once, i rode my motor bike to work in winter, got there and wondered why i was cold down there, didn't put any undies on did i, i rode home and put some on. apart from that it is just a guy saying, just a another way of saying it is cold, nothing to do with the crown jewels.
no its not... scientifically when a man's pair of testicles (BALLS) gets cold the scrotum will tighten up and will push the each testis closer to the body.. Why? because its part of basic human survival adaptations. spermatogenesis (sperm production) will only be successful is each testis where in suitable temperature.. other wise each newly produced sperm will die before being stored in the semineferous tubules.. hence extremly hot temps can also interfere with spem production.. ever wndered why when aguy has a fever his balls hang loose? because the scrotum is trying to cool the testis off by ventilating them.
The expression is derived from the original 'It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.'
This expression does not literally mean what you are thinking. When they used cannons on ships there was a rack for holding the cannon balls called a 'Brass Monkey' when it got to cold the cannon balls would shrink faster than the brass cannon ball stand and fall through the holes. Hence 'freezing the balls off a brass monkey.'
As I said before the expression has changed slightly - in the style of a game of chinese whispers as it is said and passed along :) When it gets cold all that happens is that the balls are pulled closer into the body by the scrotum.
