You can request a vasectomy at whatever age you want. Your doctor may try and dissuade you if you don't have any children. They do this as you may change your mind at a later date, and reversal of a vasectomy is not always successfull.
You can have it under a general anaesthetic. You still need one needle to have a general anaesthetic.
its down to the doctor to decide see your GP first and it only takes 30 seconds so you dont get knocked out ha ha childbirth takes hours and hours so count yourself lucky
Only a doc can decide if your ready for the snip and yes you can be knocked out..just request it.
As a general it is not done unless you are over 30, have 2 children and are in a stable relationship. It is now only normally done using a local anaesthetic and the risk of a general is considered unjustified.
whenever you want it, the doctor will try and put you off it if you are young as reversal is rarely successful. i'm afraid you will not be able to get the gas as its done under local anesthetic nowadays
I wanted to have the "snip" after my 1st son was born 10 years ago, and my GP said I was young to have it. I was adamant that I didn't want anymore children, and couldn't afford to go private. 3 years ago my 2nd son was born and still they said I was too young to have it done. It doesn't hurt as they only put you under a local anesthetic which is injected into your scrotum. Then they pull your tubes through a small hole and snip. All done. They do recommend that you abstain from sex for 6-8 weeks as sperm is still present in your tubes, and you don't want your partner to get pregnant.
