Some guys do like it very hairy. Not me. I want a clean and smooth ...... Anyway you should be the way you to be for the reasons that make you happiest. If growing your down there hair for a year just for him would be ok for you then go for it. If you have a problem doing that just for him then by all means shave away.
It definitely depends on the man. Some like to have no hair at all and some like to have a full bush. Since your boyfriend is requesting that you "grow it out," I'm assuming he knows what he likes, so if you don't mind doing so, you should probably keep a moderate amount (nothing excessive) and have it well trimmed. But it is your body so do whatever makes you comfortable.

I strongly prefer natural hair. Trimmed gets prickly/scratchy. And the bald look is totally disgusting. I would feel like I was with a child, and I only like women, not little girls. You really can't go wrong with natural -- the hair is soft and sensuous. And your boyfriend likes it that way, so what does it matter what the rest of us guys like.
If you are in love, it's not nasty. But use protection unless you are ready for a baby.

It's not much different than asking people's preference on hair styles and dress styles. Let's say you have a head of beautiful long hair and your bf asks you to make it a lot shorter. Or you like to wear pants but you bf comments that you would look nice in skirts. What will you do? You should do what you like but it doesn't hurt to please your bf once once in while, right?

Shaved makes it a little easier if he's going to perform oral on you. However, it doesn't really matter if you are having intercourse. Mostly, it's a personal preference. I personally like trimmed. A little tuft of hair is nice to the touch.
