What could this be?

Question:
Hi I am almost 18 years old and I have had these problems for a couple of years now. Just about everyday I have a headache, I'm tired, I can't focus on anything, I get anxious or nervous and I don't even know why, rapid heartbeat, trouble breathing (but I also have asthma). And it often takes me about a half hour to fall asleep. And no matter how much sleep I get I wake up feeling exhausted.

During the school year, I procrastinate and have trouble concentrating on my work. Reading is especially hard for me cause my mind wanders very easily. I am going to college this September and I owe it to myself to get this straighted out before I do. I ought to go to a doctor, but before I do, what do you think this is? Thanks!

Answers:
sounds like ADHD with a bit of generalized anxiety. the anxiety could be just from the fact that you are going to college soon, and thats normal. good luck
It could be a million things...just go to the doctor...
Sound like you should have been taken to a specialist long ago

Blame your parents
maybe lack of vitamins ,take cod liver oil, great for the mind
If you can answer yes to at least six of the following you might have attention deficit disorder.
1) often fails to give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other activities
2)often has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities
3)often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly
4)often does not follow through on instructions and fails to finish schoolwork, chorse, or duties in the work place
5)often has difficulty organizing tasks and activities
6)often avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort (such as homework)
7)often loses things necessary for tasks or activities
8)is often easily distracted by extraneous stimuli
9)is often forgetful in daily activities

The anxiety/trouble breathing could be an anxiety attack. You really do need to talk to someone about this. If you do not want to go to a psychiatrist or therapist, at least talk to your primary care physician...they will direct you in the right path.
