I have a very heavy beard...I can grow a full beard in about a week...Here's how I shave:
Hot washcloth on my face and neck (not crazy hot but hot enough to soften the hairs)
Use a good shaving cream that is formulated for your beard type (I like gels for heavy beards)
Don't use a cheap razor...I use a schick disposable for heavy beards...they have a very slim head and also have a strip of lanolin or aloe that coats your skin as you shave
After I shave, I rinse thoroughly and use an after shave product that will keep the moisture in your skin...
Shaving is a rite of passage for a man...enjoy it...
Gust as you step out of the shower, have a shave and it is a lot easier and pain less.
1)Get ya face hot, like after a shower (so the bristles are soft)
2)brush on shaving cream (not foam or gel but proper cream)onto wet face.
3)taking small strokes with the grain and rinse the razor often (a good razor helps mach 3 turbo i find is best)
4)wash your face thoroughly after woulds to clean the pores
5)pat dry and apply moisturiser (avoid alcohol based products!!)
I've been shaving daily for about 20 years, 10 of which were in the armed forces (close shave important). This is the best shave for me:
1.Fill basin with warm water, leave razor in water.
2.Wet face with warm water.
3.Massage a good quantity of foam or shaving soap onto beard.
4.Wait for a while with the foam on your face before continuing, the shave is smoother and painless(almost)
5.Shave in the direction that the hair grows, 2 inch strokes at a time, overlapping, rinsing off the razor between sets of strokes.
6.When you're finished, run your fingers over where you've shaved to see if you've missed anything.
7.Rinse off face with warm water then towel dry.
8.After shave
PERFECT
I have a difficult beard as the hairs grow in all different directions but this is the best way for me to shave.
Use a good quality razor (Gillette Fusion Power is good) and a decent shaving foam/gel (King of Shaves gel). Best time to have a shave is after a bath or a shower. If you can run a face cloth under some hot water, wring it out and place it over your face (as hot as you can bear it) for a couple of minutes. Slap on the shaving gel, rubbing it in well, and using small strokes with the razor shave initially in the direction of the hair growth. Rinse the razor in hot water very regularly as you shave. When you've done the whole of your face, repeat but going against the direction of the hairs. Rinse your face well, and then splash cold water over your face to close any pores. Then put on some nice aftershave (ouch!) and there you go.
lots of shaving cream and shaving in the direction of the hair growth.
