Answers:
The BMI does not take into account the ratio of lean tissue mass to bodyfat, thus some very fit and athletic people may have a tendency to score in the overweight catagory. This is why the BMI might have some application for the general population, but for others, the results will be misleading and unhelpful.
I would look like a starving urchin if I weighed what those charts say I should.
BMI Categories:
* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
Accordingly to the BMI chart the most people is overweight nowadays! Body Mass Index is a simple number calculated from a person’s weight and height then giving a summary indication of body fatness, nothing more or less. We all should learn to read that information through a little bit of wisdom and elasticity. If my BMI value indicate 50 lbs. overweight I should take in consideration that damn parameter seriously then! Even if suffering from short-sight my fat around my belly should be noticeable!
On the contrary, if it will range within 1 - 9 lbs. I could be satisfied enough and my life still going on at the same way.
Any medical average or indication is an useful datum helping people with simplicity while staying at home or near computer. Then we are free to believe or follow acting consequently.
