Circumcision as a teen?
Question:
I was just wondering will my circumcision be covered since I have phimosis? Also, how painful is the process?
Please do not reply with anti-circumcision posts as I have already made up my mind.
Answers:
That depends on your insurance. It may. Call the number on your insurance card and inquire, this way you will know first hand whether or not it is covered. Make sure to document on paper who you spoke with , time, and date and whether or not your surgery would be 100% covered or what your out of pocket cost would be. Until you are 18 years old, your parents have a say in what can be surgically altered on your body. Did they refrain from having you circumcised at birth because of religion or personal preference? Have a sit down chat with them, come to the table prepared with the reasons why you feel this is best for YOU. It will most likely be somewhat of a painful experience, however, the surgery would include pain meds, most likely until you have healed. If your parents refuse to allow the surgery, discuss with your doctor what you can do to have the surgery done once you turn of age (18). Good luck and I hope that your parents take the time to consider your pain and your feelings and realize how this surgery could dramatically improve your life!Research doctors, make sure you get a reputable doctor in your area! Ask about previous surgeries he/she may have done..ask for a referral from your family doctor to a specialist if needed...just do your best to find a good doctor...there are many out there!
I know a 14 year old boy who recently got circumcised. He told me that it really didn't hurt at all; he was medicated during the procedure and given pain pills for a few days after.
He has expressed how much better he feels about himself (his religion encourages the procedure).
He also told me that he and his grandparents really had to fight the doctors and insurance company to cover it, but they finally got it covered.
barney killed it
XD
It's not in my mind to change your decision, but probably you don't know that the most part of the phimosis don't need circumcision to be treated. Besides, reading around I notice that there are more good reasons to be uncut than the contrary. You have all the time to be acquainted and think better about.
Anyway, the process is a little bit painful only after the surgery.
circumcision can help you clean your penis.
i was circumcised by laser, so it not hurt, but it heal very long like 2-4 months
in my country that's a practice. all male get circumcision as they reach the age of 10 usually during their elementary grade.
I am glad you have decided to take this step. Only the un-educated are anti-circumcision.
It doesn't take a genus to figure out it is a safer means of keeping yourself clean in the gentle area.
The doctor uses a local anesthesia and a creme afterwords, so there will be a little discomfort at the beginning.
hmm well it looks like to me you have researched it all that thoroughly. you are about to lick some skin off the hydraulics, will it hurt? hmm probably not since the skin isn't really on any part of the body that you couldn't handle getting cut on. go figure huh?
I got circumcised last year. And boy did it hurt especially when i had 2 look at my girlfriend everyday but since u are a teen its OK for u to go ahead with it,trust me it will improve ur quality of life.
i have a Dorsal cut circumcision, cut down the middle (on top) so i could keep my foreskin, ask your surgeon(via parents) about it, you'll be glad you did!! You'll thank me Later! i'm not kidding
The surgery shouldn't hurt while it's done, unlike newborns, because you should be put to sleep. However, recovery may be for a good two weeks, especially with erections and urination.
Otherwise, make sure you've done research on the risks, too. Do you have a tight foreskin? If so, that can be fixed without circumcision. Doing that would allow you to try out how a foreskin works normally. Otherwise, you have the advantage of choosing. The post below may help with some links.
Some may say that circumcision will fix a tight foreskin, but circumcision's risks include reduction in sensitivity and pleasure, and making masturbation more difficult according to studies (including a few new ones from a few months ago). Oddly enough that's how it was promoted in the USA since masturbation was bad, haha. There's a reason why the USA is the last remaining advanced nation still doing it, and even so, it's getting a lot less popular (it's now as low as 14% in some states). Save that as a last resort, as you're doing. That's only one of the few risks, there's more listed here, in addition to the studies and statistics:

I was the same when I was younger, and now it slides fine with no problems whatsoever. Just pull back your foreskin when you shower the most you can without forcing it, and rub the head. That should encourage it to separate from the head. This is probably all you have to do, since this is common especially with teens. You just haven't 'used' it enough, as in masturbation and washing it. The same goes for sensitivity; the more your rub it the less sensitive it'll get (start using water when you shower then rub a little more each day).
And if its rather tight, you can get a cream that works in almost 95% of cases. It's 0.05% betamethasone or betamethasone dipropionate. And unlike circumcision it is very cheap ($12 in the USA), painless, and you don't risk decreasing sensitivity/pleasure and making masturbation more difficult.

Try that cream. It works. Doctors often just mention circumcision since its a surgery that brings a lot of money to them, especially in the USA.

The USA is the last advanced nation doing it, but rates have fallen down from over 90% in the 1960s to as low as 21% here in California currently. From CNN:

Circumcision was actually promoted in the USA at first to stop masturbation (in hopes of it being tight enough to require lubes and not have skin to slide since the foreskin is already moist)

USA = highest HIV rates in advanced nations (and highest circumcision rates). CIA statistics:

And one study already trashed the claims of the study that said that circumcision reduces HIV.

I had it done when I was about 19. Insurance did pay for it, as long as it is medically needy. Which it was, right along the reason why you want yours done. It really didn't hurt. I was fully asleep, didn't feel a thing. I was in an out in no time. What did hurt is when you get an erection. Because it stitches retract and stretch. It happens spontaniously. But other than that, no big deal.
I was cut at 18, it is well worth it! Don't let anyone tell you how great a foreskin is if they haven't been on bothsides! Its cleaner, healthier, sex is so much better and you have less chance of aquiring STD's and HIV!
Insurance will cover if you have Phimosis. You will be sore, but it is not so bad! I had it done on a Friday and was back in class on Monday! Took a month before sex, that part sucked, but still worth it!
