Is Sex the ONLY way a male can get a yeast infection??
Question:
Answers:
No. Yeast is a bacteria. Bacteria grow in warm moist places. That's why women get them more than men (for obvious reasons!)
Is he taking any antibiotics?? Antibiotics kill bacteria. Some strong antibiotics kill ALL bacteria...GOOD AND BAD. If there is an absense of good bacteria , the bad bacteria will thrive and bingo. Yeast infection. ! :0)
(And yes we have "good" bacteria in our bodies...that's why women are advised to eat yogurt..."Active Cultures of Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. casei, L. reuteri and Bifidobacterium bifidum" found in yogurt are GOOD HEALTHY BACTERIA, they kill the bad bacteria! :0)
It's the whole "good guy/bad guy" thing in our bodies, LOL
Some other ways to get a yeast infection: Is your BF circumcised? If he isn't, he might not be keeping himself clean enough and this could be a reason he is getting them. Of course, he may just need to change his underwear more often as well. (i know... EW... but hey, you never know...)
Oddly enough.. recurrant yeast infections can be a sign of diabetes. If he is fairly clean down there, is not taking any antibiotics (and isnt' sleeping w/ anyone else), AND diabetes runs in his family... maybe he should be tested.
The last is a long shot, but just wanted to add that in.
No, guys get jock itch, and that is a yeast infection, it's just called different cause it's so comparatively minor on a guy, but they are both Candida albicans. Your friend is just a drama queen trying to stir up ish
a guy with jock itch can give you a yeast infection, but also just having sex with a clean guy can upset the pH balance in your vagina, and lead to a yeast infection, although the former is much more likely
no, men can get them just like women can...from antibiotics, etc.
truthfully never heard of a man getting a yeast infection. but get it checked out further cuz it could be something else.
He got it from a female, hopefully it was from u, and yes we can only get them from women. U may have had one and did not knew it yet
He can get yeast infection. Make sure that both of you are treated for it though. You can pass it back and forth if you both do not get rid of it at the same time
It is far more common in men than you'd believe...athletes foot, left untreated for more than a few months, becomes a yeast infection...in combat, men with trenchfoot actually had a severe yeast infection of the podiatral skin that worked through the skin and infected the underlying tissue.
And yes, jock itch is usually yeast infection.
If you can stand the smell, garlic juice is amazingly effective in clearing it up by the way.LOL
Take it from a pharmacy tech its warm dark and moist in the men's area too! No they don't get it as often as we do but they do get it.
I've never heard of a circumsized male getting a yeast
infection. Thats one of the benefits. Uncircumsized men can
get an infection but not quite as easily as a woman can. Its
not an STD. Its like any other infection.
