Hi, Im 14 and i was wondering if its ok for me to start weights or will it stunt my growth?

Question:
Im 5'9 ft and i was just thinking of doing light weights

Answers:
I was that same height when i was 14(im 17) and thats about when i started lifting if not earlier. It will not affect your growth. However if you go really hard it sure will. Working out is ok and lifting weight just as long as you can do lots of reps.

Lifting 40 pounds 7 times=bad

Lifting 20 pounds 30 times=good

Thats the idea at least. Make sure you always work out the other muscle so that its even.

If you do biceps, do triceps. If you do the abs, do the lower and middle back too and so on.
If you have reached puberty then yes you are more than ready to go on ahead. A book I reconmend is Getting Stronger by Bill Pearl, it's helped me a lot!
it will improve you health whatever age you start. just make sure you eat a balanced diet for the amount of exercise you do. Avoid over straining yourself by putting unnecesary extreme stress on your body.

just don't do steroids, that will have potential health issues
that is a wive's tale. no study has ever shown exercising of any sort to effect your growth in general terms. it can help you build muscle mass and fitness, but the only effect it has on your frame is help build bone density. it will not effect how tall you grow.
