Dude, all men have been here, I remember telling my dad that three years ago when I asked and he was in my same position once so he didn't make anything of it (like it wasn't a big deal) and let me run into a sports store and get one. It seems like a bigger deal then it's gonna be. Believe me.

do some research to find a good jocklstrap for you and determine how much one costs (including tax). Then tell your parents that you need $__.__ to buy some safety items for working out at the gym. Only if they ask would you have to inform them that it is future generations of the family you want to keep safe.
Danny, your parents should be open minded enough to realize you're at that age that you should have one. Talk to your Dad and tell him exactly what you've told us. If they won't listen, do they give you an allowance? Use some of that to go to the store and buy one yourself.
If you wanna lie, you could always say you want to go into baseball, get one, then say you changed your mind.
Tell your parents straight out that you need a jockstrap. It's nothing to be embarassed about. It's part of life.
I know this might be a bit embarrassing for you, BUT THERE IS NO NEED TO BE. Go up to your dad in private and say "hey, I'm a bit embarrassed about this, but I need..." Guaranteed he will put his arm around you and say sure son. That's what fathers do. All the best to you.
just ask them. just be like "can i buy a jockstrap, so my ball sack doesnt bounce while i workout?" thats easier than having to ask your parents to buy you condoms..trust me..i didnt even ask...they just bought them for me >_<
Honestly, jockey type underwear is a lot more comfortable. Jockstraps are not comfortable at all. If it doesn't fit perfectly it won't stay in place. A good fitting pair of jockey shorts with keep you luggage contained as well, if not better, than a jockstrap. Those straps never stay where they're suppose to and believe me once you wear one for any length of time. You can't wait to take the darn thing off. Not to mention the tend to chafe in that area where the front pouch and the straps are attached.
Been there Danny. When I was in junior high school we were required to have jockstraps as part of PE uniform. Told my dad that I needed to have jockstrap for PE he took to the sporting good store and picked out the proper jockstrap that I would need. Can be embarrassing but part of growing up.
If you do want to go this route visit local Wal-Mart they have Sporting Goods area and sell jockstraps. You will not be the only needing a supporter.
