Desperate help with Osgoods Schlauters Disease (speeling?)...?

Question:
Okay, I'm a 16 year old male, 6'3" 260 lb., football player. I've had knee pain before from it (and what might have been Tendanitis as a result), but it is really bad right now. Is there anything I can do besides ice it? Any answers or suggestions are welcome.

P.S.~ Two-a-day practices start next week too so is there anything I could do for it while active?

Answers:
I am a figure skater and my partner has had a similar problem. I think that you should look into electric shock therapy treatments. This is a machine that you hook up to your knee and can help with the pain.

I think you can also take some sort of anti-inflammatory. Such as Advil or ibuprofen. Also if the pain is really bad you can go to your doctor and maybe get a stronger pain killer.
I know that when my partner had it the doctor said that skating would not make the problem any worse. So hopefully it's the same with football and you can just grin and bare the pain.
Also just so you know this disease is caused from growing so fast that your bones can't keep up and the ligaments that connect your bones get stretched. So it should go away with time.
Try spraying some WD-40 on twice a day...
Good Luck
This disease is just while your body is growing faster than the ligaments have time to adjust.
Your football teach should have a trainer (but it's probably just your coach) that should know what to tell you do to. If he doesn't, it might be a good idea to see a doctor for help. If you don't take care of it now, your knee can be messed up in the future. If you want a good football career and a healthy knee for life, take care of it now while it's still growing.

Ice is good. Make sure you are doing that (make sure they teach how to do it right) and that you are stretching out good before you exercise, every time. Take it easy on yourself, and it ever feels painful, stop. Get off your knee. Massage therapy might help. I've worked on a client with Osgood-Schlatter's with good success.
Ya man its a good idea to go to a doctor and get it checked. I had tendinitis in my knee, saw a doctor, sent me to a physical therapist, and fixed the problem. Icing it will help, but not solve the problem. If you want to try putting tiger balm on it, that stuff is awesome. You can buy it at cvs or Walgreen's, places like that.
