To my knowledge they are latex which has a tendency to dry out after a period of time and when that happens cracks could form in the condom which could cause the condom to either burst during sex or sperm to slip through the cracks increasing the risk of pregnancy and STDs
they disintegrate into dust the minute of the expiration date.
