Can men in their fifties suddenly change their physique (Pot Belly) to a 6 pack with muscles through training?

Question:
Just wanted to know since a friend of mine who is nearly 51 wants to suddenly undertake a regime of going to the gym three times a week to gain the body beautiful (muscles and a 6 pack) when he never had such a physique before. Just wondered about the risks involved.

Answers:
You can tone up..
No reason why he cant make sure he gets proper advise speaks to his doc and doesn't overdo it and in 6 months his look should start to change
yes but he will have to eat protein and a good diet or he will never see the muscles
My dad toot up marathon running when he was 50 ish he is 60 now and he is extremely fit very tight muscles great bod, he looks a million times better than before and will probaly live longer for it (I hope).

Moderation is the key.
Tone up yeh, but don't forget to tell him to warm up and take it easy at first!
Of course, he will get help at the gym, there should be no risks involved as long as he doesn't overdo it
It will be hard work but technically possible, the main problem here is that a 51 year old is not producing any where near the amount of Testosterone of someone younger, Testosterone playing a key role in health, well-being and muscle production.

As long as your friend follows a sensible training regime under the eye of a well qualified personal trainer there should be no serious risks involved as long as he is in good health.

Minimization of body fat is the place I would be starting as he is going to have to be very lean to reveal a six pack.
As with any regime you should consult your doctor before doing anything rash. That being said, it is totally possible to obtain a gradual change with proper exercise and nutrition over time, although not highly likely that this person will be in peak physical condition without years of work.
1. He needs to have a visit with his doctor to rule out any possible health problems.

2. Join a gym and speak to a personal trainer and explain what he'd like to achieve with fitness.

3. He may not get the perfect "six pack" but with plenty of cardiovascular exercise along with weight training, he can get the best shape he can get for his age.

4. My "boss" is 51 and has an amazing body from exercising regularly and staying active. Just because we get older doesn't mean we have to go to seed.

5. Why don't you work out with him. You are never too old to exercise - even if that is just walking. There is a man who is over 100 who runs the London Marathon.
Has he got a younger woman.
simple answer probably not, but there are always exceptions to any rule
First he needs to have a stress test done by a doctor to see if he is healthy enough to undertake a full body workout.
If he has never had the muscles and 6 pack in his life he probably wont get it now over 50
He could probably work out in a gym and gain some body improvements, but don't over do it,
he could have a heart attack or stroke if his body isn't used to the physical workout.
Swimming is good and builds body muscles so does bike riding or just taking long walks in the evenings.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's on his death bed because he is over 50 but if your body isn't used to the strain of a full body work out it can do more harm then good.
Yeah a man can tone his muscles... it doesn't matter his age.
There's a lot more risk, in my opinion, to live a non-active lifestyle in your fifties than an active one! My mom is 60 and she recently (in one year) lost 140 pounds. she started out walking five miles a day, and now she not only walks five miles a day, but also works out rigorously at the gym three days a week. It's gotten her off almost all of her meds and she's a severe diabetic and is hypertensive. Just saying, I can't see how it would hurt. As long as it's not overdone. I would definitely encourage him to do it, but also encourage him to get a doctor to do a physical and make sure everything's tickin ok.. you wouldn't want to stress out an already sick heart without some medical advice or treatment... other than that, go for it man!:)
